Gilbert was co-founder, as well as Vice President of Engineering at Ensemble Communications, a developer of wireless base stations and networking equipment, and one of the pioneers in broadband wireless communications.

Many of the companies Mr. Gilbert has helped found have been sold to Fortune 500 companies such as Qualcomm and Tellabs.
