Gilbert was co-founder, as well as Vice President of Engineering at Ensemble Communications, a developer of wireless base stations and networking equipment, and one of the pioneers in broadband wireless communications.
Many of the companies Mr. Gilbert has helped found have been sold to Fortune 500 companies such as Qualcomm and Tellabs.
Previously, Gilbert was Vice President of Business Development at start-up WiChorus, a developer of next-generation packet core products for 4G wireless networks. In this role, he was responsible for competitive intelligence and business development with Tier 1 Carriers in the US and around the world. His expertise and assistance led to several carriers deploying 4G wireless networks including one of the first major 4G wireless networks in the world ‒ a nation-wide deployment in the United States. WiChorus was acquired by Tellabs in 2009 for almost $165M, at which time Gilbert became Vice President of Marketing, Mobile Internet.
Gilbert’s areas of expertise span wireless modems and radio technology, communications protocols, and wireless network design. He received his Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from MIT and holds more than 10 patents in the field of wireless and broadband communications.
