New Windsor, NY – July 6, 2020 – Wireless 20/20, LLC (www.wireless2020.com), developer of the industry-leading WiROI™ Business Case Analysis Tool, today announced the introduction of a portfolio of software tools, databases and auction simulation software to assist bidders in preparing for the FCC Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) Reverse Auction, which is scheduled to begin on October 29, 2020.
The FCC has established the $20.4 billion Rural Digital Opportunity Fund to bring high speed fixed broadband service to rural homes and small businesses. The FCC plans to use reverse auctions in two phases to distribute these funds to the lowest bidders promising to build out rural broadband networks. The auction will target over six million homes and businesses that lack broadband offering download speeds of at least 25 Mbps. Up to $16 billion will be made available for Phase I of the RDOF auction, and the remaining Phase I budget, along with $4.4 billion, will be awarded for Phase II of the auction.
“As operators are evaluating how to secure funding to deploy rural broadband networks, they need business planning tools to help them determine the minimum amount of funding necessary to serve a particular area,” said Berge Ayvazian, Senior Analyst and Principal Consultant of Wireless 20/20. “With thousands of counties, and census blocks to consider, a comprehensive, disciplined, and organized approach is needed to enable each operator to bid and win funding that meets their unique requirements."
The new software tools, part of Wireless 20/20 ‘s WiROI Broadband Networks Business Case Analysis Tools, will enable operators to construct hundreds of business cases and answer critical questions about the funding needed to successfully deploy fiber and wireless broadband networks in each of their target markets.
Wireless 20/20 developed the WIROI db U.S. Broadband Database Tool to enable operators to easily extract necessary competitive information about their markets and build competitive bidder profiles. These profiles are then fed into the WiROI Reverse Auction Simulation Tool (RAST), which enables operators to simulate mock auctions.
“Improving an operators chances to win RDOF funding will greatly depend on the amount of analysis done ahead of the auction,” said Randall Schwartz, Co-Founder and Principal Consultant of Wireless 20/20. “Business Case modeling, ROI analysis and competitive databases, along with auction simulation software, are essential tools that help bidders prepare for the auctions. Our clients participate in auctions with the confidence that comes from proper preparedness.”
Wireless 20/20 partnered with Nordicity in the application of the specialized software used for simulating the reverse auction scenarios and strategies.
